Thanks to Brian Jones who shared his vast knowledge on the history of communal conservancies in Namibia during a sit-down interview. Mr. Jones has not only been instrumental in setting-up Namibia’s communal conservancies, he has written some of the most authoritative texts on the successes experienced by, and challenges still facing, Namibia’s communal conservancies. During our conversation Mr. Jones fluidly explained how the history of the land now designated as communal conservancies is still a relevant part of efforts to simultaneously manage wildlife and spur community development. Mr. Jones is serving as an informal adviser to this project.
